What is CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence based scientific approach to therapy. CBT offers an educational element providing numerous techniques and skills to practice that can help you.

The Cognitive part relates to our thoughts.

The Behavioural part relates to our actions/ what we do.

The basic premise of CBT is that our thoughts and beliefs are interconnected with our feelings, emotions, behaviours and physical sensations and health.

CBT provides methods to focus in on negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours, to explore the connections and make changes to any disturbances and distortions we may have about ourselves, others and the world which are causing us distress.

CBT is well researched and considered to be highly effective in the treatment of a wide range of conditions including:-

•    Obsessional Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

•    Phobias

•    Anxiety Disorders – Panic attacks

•    Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
